Ensemble Lyrae – Still We Rise: Changing HERstory

Saturday, May 18th, 7:00 pm

Still We Rise explores the theme of women throughout history who have persisted in the face of obstacles and honors those who have spoken out, risen up, fought for what is right, and paved the way for others by changing the course of history. Musical works include the stories and/or words of women such as Susan B. Anthony, Harriet Tubman, Malala Yousafzai, Abigail Adams, Louisa May Alcott, Anne Frank, among many others. Originally slated for performance in Spring of 2020, the premiere of Still We Rise: Changing HERstory was formed around the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment. Ensemble Lyrae is thrilled to finally be able to bring the profound words and stories of these trailblazing women to audiences!

Inspired by the natural beauty and brilliance of the constellation Lyra, Ensemble Lyrae brings together four uniquely and highly talented musicians. While each shines as a soloist, together, these women form deep connections in performing quartets and trios. Suggested Donation: $15.00
