Candlelight Vespers – A ‘Joyeux Noël!’
Sunday, December 7th, 6:30 pm – Doors open at 6:00 pm

As the holiday season approaches, many of us find ourselves bogged down with lists of gifts to buy, tasks to complete, and places to be. The hustle and bustle of this time of year can feel both daunting and overwhelming. To offer a moment of calm amid the rush, we invite you to experience the peace and beauty of The Shirley Meeting House at our 22nd Annual Candlelight Vespers Concert on Sunday, December 7th. Our theme this year: A ‘Joyeux Noël!’
We have “decked the halls” with Christmas greenery and candles in the windows. As you enter the Meeting House, traditional holiday songs and carols played by Lois Toeppner on our historic Stevens Tracker Organ will welcome you.
You’ll hear poems and stories of the holidays as read by Rebecca Boucher, Kathy Daly, Benjamin Farrar, Kevin Johnston, William Oelfke and James Quinty.
Christmas choral selections will be sung by The Meeting House Chorale, under the direction of Bernard Crane and accompanied by pianist Elenye German.
Both traditional carols and new songs for the season will be shared by Nancy Beaudette & Christine Hatch, The German Family, Alison Angulo, Gus Angulo & Emilie MacDonald, Sara & Thiago Inácio, Dawn Kenney, Holly Haase, Victoria Landry, and Heidi & Lou Garofalo.
Of course, it wouldn’t be Vespers without inviting you to join in our traditional holiday sing-along. Warm up your voices and get ready to lift them in song!
Following the program, please join us at the Center Town Hall for warm cider, dessert, and friendly conversation. We look forward to welcoming you.
Candlelight Vespers is our gift to the community in gratitude for your support throughout the year. As always, donations are welcome and appreciated.
The Shirley Meeting House is ADA accessible.
The Shirley Meeting House programs are sponsored in part by a grant from the Shirley Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
